As we're getting settled into our Winter office in Minneapolis, MN, we're starting to reflect upon what truly was another BSE as the kids say, Best Summer Ever. The final session of the summer is usually "off peak," because so many schools are back in session, but we had record breaking numbers this year, and we ended the summer on an incredibly high note. Huge thanks to our energized and talented staff who helped end a remarkable summer with a bang!
After such a successful summer, we, along with alumni spanning many generations, came together at Camp Birchwood in Laporte, MN for a memorial service to honor the life of Camp Birchwood's founder, Nancy Bredemus. Each night of the weekend was spent around the campfire singing camp songs and sharing memories from 'when I was a camper.' It was neat to see generations of campers share stories that intertwined shared traditions no matter what decade the camper attended Camp. Nancy passed away this spring, but her spirit was very much alive this recent weekend in August when friends gathered together at Camp Birchwood to remember the woman who started it all--a unique Minnesota summer camp with a camp community spanning the generations and the globe.
(Photo Notes: Alums sail at Camp during the memorial weekend--Nancy Bredemus, pictured below that photo, would have been so proud to see these Alums use the skills they learned at Camp Birchwood into adulthood).
