Today, nine Voyageurs left camp for the first five day trip of the year. They are heading half way down the Gunflint Trail, dropping their canoes in at Iron Lake and paddling into Portage and Skipper Lakes. On their travels they will cast their fishing rods into some of the deepest water in the area looking for lake trout as well as northern pike. The area that they are paddling in also has a very high population of moose so they will have their cameras at the ready to hopefully snap a picture or two of one of the coolest animals in the area.
