Another sunny day at the end of the Gunflint Trail brings with it one group pushing from the camp dock and the rest of the group competing in Voyageur Games. Eight voyageurs are heading north into Lake Saganaga before turning west to cross the big lake. Their four days will involve a ton of fishing and rock-climbing. The rock-climbing spot that the guys will hang their ropes from is on the north eastside of Seagull Lake.
Meanwhile, back at camp, a friendly competition continues between the Northwest Company and the Hudson Bay Company. Voyageurs from each company competed to set up and take down a tent, pump water, get the water to a fire pit and boil the water. The groups then tested their skills at the ranges in a variety of concentration/strategy shooting games.
This afternoon they will all go to the river to compete in a variety of canoe races. Gunnel pumping, broken paddle, backwards paddle and group hand paddle are amongst the relays.
