The last couple of days has been pretty quiet as we waited for new campers to arrive. Quiet doesn't mean boring however, as we were able to do a ton of fun special activities. Today the group did a short hike, ending up at Magnetic Rock. Magnetic Rock is a rectangular rock that looks completely out of place in the Northwoods and, whats more, if you get too close with a compass then you will notice that the rock has it's own magnetic field. It is believed that the rock is part of a much larger asteroid that landed in Canada.
Then, this evening, our newest additions to Camp arrived. After their long journey they were met at the dock with an excited group of counselors and campers. They were shown to their bunks, ate dinner, given a tour and settled in for the night. Tomorrow, they will go through Gunflint school to learn all the tricks of the woods. Then on Wednesday they will head out on their first wilderness trips. It will be a whirlwind few days but they will all love it!
