We woke up to beautiful sunshine today at the end of the Gunflint Trail. We started the day with some 'World's Best Donuts', which everyone was very excited for; in fact, some people were up early waiting, even though they could have slept-in a little. After that, our Senior Leaders (SLP) came up with activities; Sean and Max B played Ultimate Frisbee, John played boardgames outside, Luke went to Eagles Nest to journal and write letters, Max H and August played predator-prey. All of the other campers love doing activities with the SLP and it is great leadership experience for the Seniors themselves.
This evening, we had our first Eagle's Nest campfire of the session. It was a stunning evening up on the rock! We sung songs, performed skits from our trips and, most importantly, everyone received their new Voyageur Toques. These are the goofy looking hats that we all wear. They pay homage to the Voyageurs who used to paddle these waters and hike these very same portages that we still hike today. They are a great tradition and everyone was very excited to received their new (or first) toque.
It is so awesome to see how this group is gelling together and having a blast, it really is so fun to watch and be a part of. Click on the image above to see Camp's daily picture page.
