What a weekend we have had here at the end of the Gunflint Trail! Saturday morning started out with 'breakfast on the deck'; a camp tradition that includes donuts that we bring in from World's Best Donut shop in Grand Marais. After an amazing breakfast, our Senior Leader campers lead some activities of there own creation. Max B. went out onto the water for some kayak/paddle board games; Nicholas A. and Sammy O. organized a Gaga tournament, and Jack W. invented several different challenges in the dining hall. They did a great job and, although it is only the first weekend, it is fun to see them turning into wonderful leaders. Then in the evening we had our weekly campfire at Eagle's Nest. We sang songs, told stories from our cabin trips and gave out Voyageur Toques (the goofy looking hats that we wear here at Camp).
Today (Sunday) was looking a little rainy when we woke up, which is not ideal at Camp! However, we always have a few tricks up our sleeves, that make any rainy day a blast. In the morning we did some regular activities. But then, this afternoon, Zero (our Program Director), orchestrated a camp wide 'minute to win it' competition. They all played a bunch of different minute long challenges, it is so fun to see them all get behind their team-mates in some (extremely) friendly competition. As they were playing in the dining hall the rain suddenly cleared, enabling us to put on our swim suits and turn on the water slide (White Lightning). Needless to say, everyone was excited and had a great time.
This evening we picked and planned our trips for this week. One group will leave tomorrow, one on Tuesday and 2 trips on Wednesday. They are all awesome trips, so keep an eye on the blog for more details as well as their tracking information!
