Today the rest of our campers and counselors headed out onto the trail. They split into 2 groups and will both be out for 3 days and 2 nights. Find their picture and click on it to follow their adventures.
Superior Hiking Trail 1.1
The Superior Hiking Trail is, yet another, amazing resource that we have just a stones throw (almost) away from Camp. It is 300+ miles of hiking trail that runs all the way along the north shore of Lake Superior through the Superior National Forest. We have spent the last few years working our way from South to North, and now we are starting again. This group of (soon to be) hiking specialists started their trip just North of Two Harbors and hiked North. They will pass the beautiful Gooseberry Falls on their hike and maybe even stop to play and relax in the water! Their plan is to go a little further and end their trip at Splitrock Lighthouse; on the shore of Lake Superior. It is a very popular section of the trail because of the amazing sights on the way.
Honeymoon Bluff Fishing
As we have so many fisherman in Camp this session, we decided to send another fishing trip. These guys drove about half way down the Gunflint Trail to a Campground on Flour Lake. They will set up basecamp and start fishing as soon as humanly possible. They will spend the next three days exploring the lake and finding out exactly where the fish are hiding; casting from the shore and from canoes. I am confident they will come back telling tales of incredible battles with some huge fish. The other draw of this trip is the Honeymoon Bluff, a cliff just a short distance from the campsite. Here they will get unbelievably beautiful views of the Boundary Waters, in years past our groups have spent a large portion of the trip at the bluffs and I'm sure that these guys will want to spend as much time there as possible.
