This morning all of our cabin groups went out on their first overnight trips. Avant Cabin paddled just a little ways down the river to Trail's End Campground, where they will set up camp and go over to Little Shaver's climbing area. They will learn the ins and outs of climbing with some easier routes and maybe set up a few more challenging ones. Shang Cabin got in a van and are driving to Eagle Mountain trailhead. Here they will hike up to Eagle Mountain, which is the tallest point in Minnesota. It isn't a very long hike but it is a lot of fun and a good distance for a short trip. Raven Cabin paddled north into Lake Sag to explore the 'lake of many islands', they will find a great campsite and explore from there. Far and Away Cabin went south into Seagull Lake to see some of the best views in the Boundary Waters from Little Palisade's.
Here at Camp we use GPS tracking devices (operated by Garmin), the help keep us safe when we are on the trail. They also allow us to follow their route and share it with family and friends. It is an awesome feature and I have included a link to their map on each picture. Once you've found your camper's cabin, click on their picture and follow their trip. Zoom in and press the (+) to see the route taken so far.
