This morning, in perfect sunny weather, all of the campers and counselors left for the final trips of the session. Find your camper and click on the picture to follow their adventures.
North Shore Climbing
Da Vinci (our climbing expert) has spent many years going on this trip as a camper and this year he is the one leading it! He has thought very long and hard about all of his favorite climbs from the past and he is going to try and fit them all in this week. They will spend all day, everyday climbing in different areas. Leading up to being lowered down over Lake Superior to climb back up at Shovel Point.
Voyageurs Highway 2
This group will be continuing our Voyageurs Highway by completing the 2nd section. They will drop in at Gunflint Lake and paddle along the U.S. - Canada border through South Lake, Rose Lake and Duncan Lake. Along the way they will cross the Laurentian Divide (which separates the watersheds of the Atlantic and Arctic oceans) at the Height of Land Portage. This is a famous portage at which the Voyageurs would perform a 'mock' baptism (no religious connotation); our group will perform a similar ceremony here to truly become Voyageurs. It is an amazing trip, with (in my opinion) some of the most beautiful areas in the entire BWCA.
Paddling right from Camp's Dock these guys are going to keep moving until they hit Canada! Here they will stop to see Janice the Cache Bay Ranger and check into the country. After they have done this, they will paddle further North to Saganagons Lake to travel around and catch some fish. Along the way they will see ancient rock paintings and silver falls, both incredible sites.
